How To Certify Glenview as a Community
Wildlife Habitat™

Greener Glenview wants to certify Glenview as a National Wildlife Federation's Community Wildlife Habitat™.

What is Community Certification? â€‹

The National Wildlife Federation’s Community Wildlife Habitat™ program provides a focused framework for restoring wildlife habitat while together, we work to attain the National Wildlife Federation’s esteemed certification as a wildlife-friendly community. The Glenview Native Habitat Steering Committee will track progress as we complete the required checklist. We anticipate this taking up to three three years to complete.

Through the Community Wildlife Habitat program, our village can enhance and restore wildlife habitat while also connecting to existing work around climate resiliency, community resiliency, forestry, water conservation, and beautification.

Requirements for certification as a Community Wildlife Habitat

The Community Wildlife Habitat Certification requires communities to earn community-wide certification by certifying individual properties (homes, parks, schools, businesses, and others) in their community as Certified Wildlife Habitats and by doing education and outreach in their community. Education and outreach points are earned by engaging community members in habitat restoration projects, providing resources like native plant lists, and communicating through websites and social media.

We'll update our progress towards Community Wildlife Habitat Certification on this webpage, email, and social media.
